Inner peace is the one of the priceless essentials of life, and we can all learn how to integrate it into our life. No amount of Money can buy inner peace but I guess it might help to some extent. To experience inner peace you most certainly will have to work hard at it and once achieved you have to work hard but not too hard this time to maintain it. The life of inner peace, being harmonious and without stress, is the easiest type of existence~Norman Vincent Peale. So why not experience it today and every day?
I came across this lovely quote below and have shared in sections my understanding and views of it. To highlight my thoughts I have written them in italics.
Some Signs and Symptoms of Inner Peace
A tendency to think and act spontaneously
rather than on fears based on past experience.
I have learnt the beauty of being spontaneous over time , it certainly frees you from fear and allows you to experience and do and enjoy much more in life . From my practice the more you think before taking action in some situations the less likely you take that action and subsequently you miss out on the whole action. So why not be spontaneous?
An unmistakable ability to enjoy each moment.
This can be a lovely experience; it’s your ability to embrace and enjoy most moments in life. I once went out with a group of friends didnt like the place and had the option to leave but then I thought I am here now why not make the best out of it . I could not see the point of making myself miserable, Choose to Enjoy every moment.
A loss of interest in judging other people.
We all judge others every now and then but as we all know its best to do onto others as you will do to yourself. Try not to judges others.
A loss of interest in interpreting the actions of others.
Instead I have learnt to ask people what or how do they mean… it saves me the agony of trying to interpret their actions … you see Only they know what is going on in their heads of which they could chose to share or not too… Leave the interpretations to the therapist…. They get paid and I tell you it takes a lot of time and energy .
A loss of interest in conflict.
This will do you wonders , my attitude to this is that life is too sweet to get banged up in conflicts , in short I am good at avoiding conflicts…I just get on my bicycle….
A loss of the ability to worry.
(This is a very serious symptom.)
Unfortunately we all worry but then we have a free antidote and it’s called meditation, prayer, time out, dealing with negative thoughts and many more .Choose to manage , reduce or eliminate your worries.
Frequent, overwhelming episodes of appreciation.
Here I believe if we are able to integrate showing gratitude into our day to day activity then overwhelming episodes of appreciation will not be far from you. Learn to show gratitude.
Contented feelings of connectedness with others and nature.
Easy, just learn to appreciate who and what is around you.
Frequent attacks of smiling.
I often get this but not too sure how to explain it ..it’s more like a feeling of happiness cum joy with no apparent reason… of course the smiles breaks out!
An increased tendency to let things happen
rather than make them happen.
Just leave everything to God; He does wonders when you least expect and things will Happen.
An increased susceptibility to the love extended by others
as well as the uncontrollable urge to love them back.
Be yourself. It frees you from being rigid. Learn to look for the good in others and focus on that; at least for your own sanity. It allows you to value and appreciate them .
For peace to reign supreme there is nothing as good as seeking inner peace within you; Avoid criticizing others, remove yourself from negative environments, find time to pray, relax and meditate, appreciate who you are and others. Most importantly address and deal with those negative thoughts ,if any . Good luck and don’t forget to share your views.
