Dealing with Setbacks for Self improvement -9 Great Tips

Setbacks come in various forms and shapes; It can happen to each one of us at any point in our life. Nations, organisations and even the most prestigious individuals with all the monies in the world are not immuned to setbacks. I suppose facing and dealing with setbacks is just one of the many facts of life. Setbacks can be viewed from different perspectives; some good and some bad .It all depends on you and what you hope to take from it. Setbacks will either break or make a person and yet again it depends on how strong the individual is to “weather the storm”. As long you live to tell the tale then hopefully you could grow from whatever experience of setback you may have gone through and appreciate what lies ahead.

There is no straight forward answer when it comes to dealing with setbacks because we are all creatures of emotions and are bound to be deeply affected depending on the magnitude of the problem or setback.

Here are a few tips you can explore in times of setbacks.

1, Acknowledge: No one is immuned to setbacks so if you do find yourself in such position create time to acknowledge and recognise the problem. This will help you start the process of transformation in any way or manner. Most of us are capable of doing incredible things which includes making changes to our life.

2, Self discovery: when things happen to some of us it may be a time to discover and find meaning in our life in order to change direction(s).Remember our life is a reflection of how we define it.

3, Eliminate blame; Things happen to people for various reason; some for reasons no of us could tell. If the situation is irreversible looking ahead and exploring a way forward is more fruitful compared to spending tonnes of time and energy either blaming yourself or others.

4, Spirituality; This is very powerful and can be a remarkable tool in times of dealing with setbacks and afterwards to sustain it.

5, Time; Time is a good healer only if you allow it to do so. If you spend donkey years going over a setback then the pain most likely will never diminish; It serves no purpose to you and those around you. Allow yourself to heal over time.

6,I can’t ; it’s one of the most destructive words I have come across in times of setbacks. The vocabulary “I can’t” is best eradicated or changed to “I can”…..

7, Negative thoughts ; will most likely try and linger around during those times. Deal with this by eliminating your negative thoughts.

8,Creativtiy: In your times of self discovery and search for meaning why not explore what you could extract positively from the experience of setback for growth and strength. Remember we are all capable of doing incredible things only if we allow ourselves to do so .

9, Step out; Confronting and staring reality in the face.If you are able mingle with others who have been through similar experiences you may be amazed how much you could learn.

The way I view life, there is no reason to look back on setback and complain or mope about them. they have already happened and your worrying and groaning is not going help remedy the situation whether the setback was made from your own self or an outside source. Just look at what you can learn from the set back and how you can make the future better because of it.

Setbacks are but one of the many things in life. As the saying goes, “It’s not about the falling but how we pick ourselves up every time we fall.” Usually when one hit setback, how fast one picks up oneself will depend on how fast one stop beating oneself with the setback. Important thing that one need to take back from the setback is the lesson.
