Calculated Risks let’s take the Chance

How often have you woken up and said “that’s it” ! I am just going to do what I have to do ! Often some of us are stuck in jobs, relationships, businesses or basically in the rut but for some crazy reason we stay there feeling unhappy …god damn why? I mean there comes  a point in our life  we just have to take some form of risk(s) into the unknown….. I mean calculated risk(s) ….I suppose this can be the scary bit because it diving into the unknown . So some of us will stay where we are feeling unhappy because it’s perhaps safe, secured or what we know best … hhmm is sounds all good .. but then life as usual just goes on .

Most people can do extraordinary things if they have the confidence or take the risks. Yet most people don’t. They sit in front of the telly and treat life as if it goes on forever~Philip Andrew Adams.

When we talk about risk from this perspective its usually viewed in a positive manner. It will be great if we can eliminate the terminology “calculated risk” and replace it with “positive risk” then hopefully we would see positive  reasons for taking risks every now and then or perhaps every day .

Calculated risk has to been given thoughtful consideration for which the potential costs cum potential benefits have been weighted and considered.

Clearly every decision we make in relation to this type of risk has to be thought through carefully but then outcomes are not guaranteed hence the reasons it’s called risk(s). We always hope for the best outcome but if otherwise it could always be viewed as a learning curve and in most cases will build confidence to try again or try differently. Exciting isnt it?

We take calculated risks to better our life’s; we take calculated risks to learn, explore, grow and basically get the best out of life. Please note, I am not referring to doing something silly and that could be anything from engaging in unprotected sex, playing in front of a car or anything which will cause excessive irreversible damage to self or others.

So are you ready to integrate calculated risk(s)into your life? If you are new to taking risks obviously starting with baby steps is wise. The best way forward in my view  is to eliminate  self doubts as well as procrastination from your life , take action today and don’t forget to set goals .Remember it’s best to learn and grow  rather than  remain static and find all the reasons in the world to remain were you are.

The person who risks nothing, does nothing, has nothing, is nothing, and becomes nothing. He may avoid suffering and sorrow, but he simply cannot learn and feel and change and grow and love and live~Leo F. Buscaglia.

Fatibony: Great motivational post. I 100% agree that sometimes we have to push ourselves beyond our comfort zone if we really want to grow and evolve. The key is to be smart about it as you mentioned and to have faith that you will progress in the direction you should and be successful. Thanks for the motivation.

Security is an illusion. At any moment, the ground can be swept out from under one’s feet. So one might as well do what one likes, what makes one happy. What has one got to lose?

  3. Clearly Composed Says:

I have been getting much more comfortable with the idea of taking smart risks. What I am learning is the fear is always going to be around but that I don’t have to stay in it and can move forward…for better or worse! :)

  4. One of The Guys Says:

I’ve always been a risk taker. No, I don’t skydive or anything like that, but when things aren’t going well, or even when they are, I try to mix it up by jumping into the unknown.

Even getting married is like that. Sure there’s love and attraction, but you never know. Picking a college, moving to a new apartment, etc. etc. Basically all of life is one big risk. Once you see it that way, it’s easy to just take the plunge.
