Two People,Yes, Two Lasting Friends

Friendship

Such love I cannot analyse;

It does not rest in lips or eye,

Neither in neither Kisses nor Caress.

Partly, I know, it’s gentleness

And understanding in one word

Or in brief letters. It’s preserved

By trust and by respect and awe,

These are the words I’m feeling for.

Two people, yes, two lasting friends.

The giving comes, the talking ends.

There is no measure for such things

For this all Nature slows and sings.

Friends are truly the gifts we give ourselves. Glad to be making friends with you!

  2. suzen Says:

Friends are a precious treasure – mine are all the more important because I have no family except my husband and two grown kids. My friends ARE my family!

    Lovely poem!

  3. BK Says:

Just remember a quotation that someone shared with me many years back, “There are no strangers in this world; only friends that we have yet to meet.”

  4. nothingprofound Says:

Cocteau: “Art’s only excuse is that it make friends for us.” That just about sums it up for me.

  5. Fatima Da Says:

Me too… thanks @Jannie, “Each friend represents a world in us, a world possibly not born until they arrive, and it is only by this meeting that a new world is born”~ Anais Nin .

@suZen, Finding freindship within our family is lovely too and like you have mentioned a precious treasure..Thanks for stopping by..

This is sooo true @BK and how wonderful if only we all have the same perception of Friends/friendship. Thanks

@NP Awesome, what a great way to sum it up..

  6. One of The Guys Says:

I’ve always found friends to be so important in my life. I love having such a wide variety of people to talk with and learn from.

Often when people get married or have a significant other, their world gets smaller. For me it’s been the opposite. Friendships are too important to let go of because you’ve found love. They really can’t be replaced.

  7. Dr. James A. Lee Says:

Great post. Friends are so important in life. Sometimes it is important to be friends with ones self. We must love ourselves and to share our love with others without favor. Great Bog.

  8. Megan "JoyGirl!" Bord Says:

    Beautiful!
I knew I had to read it based on the title. I’ve had a best friend since I was five years old, and no matter what’s happened in our lives, we’ve kept in touch. We’re not bosom buddies, but I know I can count on her in every situation. Like family — but better, somehow.
    Have a wonderful day!

  9. Gail Pallotta Says:

A very pretty poem and so appropriate for Valentine’s.

  10. Fatima Da Says:

@drjames, thanks for your comment and I love the point you raised here ‘to share our love with others without favor’.

Thanks @Megan it’s so lovely just know there are some people/buddies out there we can count on.

@Gail thanks for your visit and comment

    :)

Thanks for a beautiful poem….and for having poetry at all….and for the thoughts on friends.
