It was a chilly cold evening the moon was out,the house was quiet everyone had gone to bed . I was so tired but felt the urge to wine down having had a lovely busy day. I sunk into the sofa glazing at and admiring the full moon hoping I would doze off; that didn’t work so I grabbed the remotes controls and switched on the television. I could hear myself saying I hate television but then I heard a little voice on the other side of me saying watching television is only 90% unproductive which is I have 10% productivity television time to play with ! You see… I had reduced my television watching a few years back and I have enjoyed engaging in what I call living a productive life .I often wonder how some people could spend 80% of their life watching television . Anyhow having spent about ten minutes flicking through the channels I came across How to get what you Want broadcasting on Sky One. At first I was hesitant to stay tuned but then had a glimpse at the synopsis of the programme. Bingo! it sounded good so I dashed off to the kitchen, made myself a nice cup of Coco and got all excited .
How to get what you want on Sky One is presented by Peter Collett, Dr Jack Lewis and Anjula Mutanda, experts in body language, neuroscience and social science. It Started on Monday 25th January on Sky1 HD and Sky1 ranging up to its 5th series at time of writing this post. The programme intends to reveals to it viewers hidden secrets, tips and strategies that we can all use to give ourselves the upper hand and be better off in 2010. it’s made up of different series .
The series I watched was How to become a winner. Please Note ,The below is just my understanding and what I had picked up whilst watching this series , so be sure to tune in to Sky 1 or Sky player to watch the series of How to get what you want .
The How to Get What You Want.
This series started off with a lovely introduction by saying the drive to become a winner is part of who we are; the effect of winning is quiet profound that it gives us an euphonic, ecstatic feelings similar to the chemical rush as we get from sex. I thought how awesome! Don’t we all love the feeling of euphoria?
They however emphasized the need to change our attitude to attain this goal to become a winner. Some examples were cited. They went on to talk about ,what they had called the locus of control; this is how a person perceives their sense of control in events. For instance, person A may perceive themselves as always lucky and person B perceives themselves as unlucky. They concluded that perceiving ourselves as a winner does not necessarily always makes us a winner at all times but this mental attitude of optimism certainly works and is required.
To Become a Winner amongst others is about:
Being positive
Being confident.
Being optimistic but not pessimistic.
Being open minded this can lead us to new opportunities.
Being able to Thinking differently.
Being able to spot and identify opportunities where others don’t.
It takes Drive,Determination and Execuction. It is advisable to start off initially with baby steps as needed and be consistent coupled with the right attention to details to become a winner .
They went on to talk about giving attention to details and highlighted the need to know our strengths and weakness and where to direct our energy. Do your SWOT (Strength, Weakness Opportunities and Threats). Looking deeply at your SWOT allows you to identify areas that needs work, in order to move on and attain this goal of become a winner. For instance, T which represents threats - could mean lack of confidence. If that’s the case then doing nothing, is not the solution but to persistently work on building confidence is.
How to Become a Winner How to Get what you want ( Sky one )
1, Hard work; here they gave an example of 100,000 hours of practice. Although it sounds crazy but these hours contribute a great deal as we build up on them ; we perfect our skills with practice !
2, Exhibiting the true characteristics of a winner by being confident, presumptuous and charismatic ; . They gave a lovely example in football of Jose Mourinho, ex-manager of Chelsea who showed such courage and fearlessness in securing the English football premiership back to back (twice). He confidently predicted his success even before winning these accolades.
3, Stay on track! Keep the fire burning and maintain the momentum!
4, Visualization, Be a big picture thinker and project your hope into the unknown future. This is a skill I am confident works and I am now perfecting myself in this area.
So guys this is just about most of what I have picked up watching How to Become a winner; It does not always have to be linked to Wealth & Fortunes! I personally feel it could also be strongly linked to anything from helping others to being in good health and happiness. The other side of winning is losing and that does not make anyone a loser; it’s just a fact of life! Most winners have lost in the past but are able pick themselves up and not dwell on their loss. So when we do lose it is an opportunity to put our loss into perspective, regroup, be realistic, learn from it and move on.. That’s the winner attitude!
So if you do have (Sky 1) remember to tune in, each series is different and I belief will be informative and educational. Use a search engine (preferably Google) to acquire the viewing times in your area. Otherwise I hope the above has given you some insight into to how to become a winner.

Being positive, optimist, etc.are all good things if one can be so. But demands of practical life are different from being so. Instead of having such fake faces, what is most needed is to be a REALIST which means taking and facing life in its reality and whatever it brings to us. Pessimism, negativity, etc. are also part of our lives and we must learn living with them also happily.
We live in a world of dualities, and ignoring one side means we are missing half of our world. .

So much about becoming a winner has to do with attitude. Positive, open, determined. And perseverance. And of course these things are able to be learned, but it takes practice!
What’s interesting is that it has much less to do with ability and talent. Great post as always!

Thanks @Guys this quote seems to shed more light on ‘Talent’ ….. Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan “press on” has solved and always will solve the problems of the human raceâ€~Calvin Coolidge quote

Yes, I do love that euphoric feeling, and I have it right now, after reading this and sensing all the hope and possiblilty that abounds in life!!
Optimism!
Seeing and going for opportunities — this one is big. HUGE!! Taking a little idea and working with it. Chipping away at those 100,000 hours.
Believing it can happen and making it so!
I’m so happy now, I think I will go make soem Coco too!

Fatima, you rock!
I am fascinated by your post and by the comments that are being made.
Personally, I have changed my life this year and refuse to let the negative in, REFUSE! I have these awful humps that threaten to bring me down and end my progression but it is the positivity and the confidence that keep me going. These emotions are not a facade and I don’t think they could exist if I did not believe in myself.
As you say, you may have all the talent in the world but talent alone is not enough. You have to get through the humps and the only way to get through them is to keep forging on.
I agree that it is important to listen to the negative thoughts and take value in them but it is even more important to not allow them to debilitate you.
Thank you for your wonderful pragmatism. I thrive off of the straight up facts.

The main benefit of having a positive attitude is that it helps you to enjoy life more. Your plans may not work out, you may never achieve your goals, but at least you enjoy the activity. I know people who are wildly talented and determined and yet their whole lives seem enveloped in fear and anxiety. Cheerfulness and optimism will not necessarily make you successful, but they will certainly make you happy.

Good stuff, Fatibony! I confess, though, that I’m not that crazy about the word “winner”, because it imposes black and white terms (“winner” and “loser”) in a world we all know is very grey. For me, I prefer to think “cooperation” or “collaboration” instead of “competition” or “game”.

Great post Fatima. I don’t think I have the Sky 1 channel, and you’re lucky to have TV programs like that. My favorite part of what you said was how they described the attitude of a winner. A person who feels like he or she can control the outcome of their life will most likely be more positive towards achieving their goals. And although it may never work all the time, I like how they stated that mental attitude of optimism is required. Thanks for sharing this insight on how to become a winner.

Hehehe @Jannie ,thanks…… Optimism! Positivity! Hard Word! Yeah let’s…. Keep the energy going …thanks for stopping over.
@Jillian , that is a fantastic choice to refuse negativity…sometimes we forget we can make a choice and not making one…. is a choice in itself. Thanks for your comment .
Thanks @NP, for your comment “ Cheerfulness is what greases the axles of the world. Don’t go through life creaking†~H.W. Byles.
@Belinda, hmmmmm ….cooperation†or “collaboration†instead of “competition†or “gameâ€. Kinda of reminds me of language wars. Intentions at the end of the day are generally the same. Hey thanks for dropping in ..
Thanks @Hulbert there is a saying that Having a positive mental attitude is asking how something can be done rather than saying it can’t be done.â€~ Bo Bennett quote.
